'Twas Ever Thus

Engraved in galleries graced with daisies,

Depths of thy phantom has me still as blue.

Thou asked why somber, caged in fantasies.

I replied, ‘tis how I chose to love you.

Chose to see your crevices’ mystery,

They are now peace to my untamed madness.

Greatest escape from cuts and misery;

‘Tis your smile that’s my forever highness.

But burnt silence now have my shattered worth.

Words of self-wrath to losing you was heard.

Retracing weakened steps with hopes for mirth,

To profess an eight-letter word was blurred.

For now, ‘tis a lifetime I sacrifice,

I’ll love you better in God’s Paradise.
